M'AR De AR Group - Embracing Horizons

Our history

The M'AR De AR group began in 1997, when Sociedade Hoteleira do Arez (SHA) opened the Hotel da Cartuxa in Évora. This hotel stood out for its privileged location, quality of service and a garden surrounded by the city's historic muralhas, making it a benchmark in the region.

In 2008, SHA decided to expand and create a brand, resulting in the birth of M'AR De AR Hotels. The Hotel da Cartuxa was modernized and renamed M'AR De AR Muralhas. That same year, the M'AR De AR Aqueduto was inaugurated, a five-star hotel resulting from the adaptation of the former Palácio dos Sepúlveda. This development combines modern architecture with historical elements, preserving the chapel, vaulted ceilings and three Manueline windows, as well as offering a privileged view of the Agua de Prata Aqueduto.

In 2019, the group expanded to Lisbon with the opening of the Degust'AR Lisboa Restaurant, bringing the flavors of Alentejo cuisine to the heart of the Portuguese capital.

More recently, the group presented a new unit in Lisbon, the M'AR De AR Auria. This space, inspired by the balance between tradition and modernity, offers a unique experience in the city center.

The M'AR De AR group is currently made up of three hotels: M'AR De AR Muralhas, M'AR De AR Aqueduto and M'AR De AR Auria, all committed to providing unforgettable experiences for their guests.
